What’s New At Summit/ems

New Product Introduction (NPI) is a cornerstone of the capabilities that Summit offers to the EMSmarket. As they say, “Everything must start somewhere, sometime”. Here are some of the recent highlights.

Wireless Controller for LED lighting systemSeptember 14, 2016

Summit was approached by a Midwest LED system OEM to produce its first wireless LED controller for a mobile application. Working closely with a Midwest Design Center located in Ohio, the prototype units were delivered on time and are now in field testing with our customer. Immediate movement to field testing was enhanced as the PCBA worked the first time in the test lab.

Eye Glass Mounted CameraSeptember 14, 2016

OK, call us crazy but we signed on to produce a product for the recreational biking market of a look behind camera that mounts on the user’s eyeglass frame (camera on one side and battery pack on the other). The prototype was one of the most complex PCBA’s that Summit has manufactured and was needed to produce the Crowdfunding video to gain investor interest. The product was delivered to the Ohio design center for testing and then off the mountains of Wyoming for field testing. We will keep you posted on this one.

K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Sometimes)September 14, 2016

Sometimes you want to take a break from pushing the technology and schedule envelope. An existing customer in the geothermal HVAC market had a field problem and needed the design and manufacture of a power supply module to solve a problem. Piece of cake, Summit accomplished the design for the customer as well as producing the prototype electronic controls for approval in a span of 60 days.

Product Pilot ProductionSeptember 14, 2016

An existing Illinois customer awarded a next generation product to Summit and start the low rate production of 500 units. This product is used in factory automation and torque measurement and is integral in assuring compliance in high reliability and safety mandated products.

New 2016 Customer commits more products to SummitSeptember 14, 2016

it is nice to receive the confidence of a new customer with the placement of an initial production order. It is even better when that confidence continues to award new products to Summit previously produced by our competition. An Indiana OEM providing energy measurement and watt-hour reference and standards equipment awarded its first product to Summit in May 2016 and followed up in August with the award of four more products.

It’s not done until the paperwork (PPAPs) is completeAugust 29, 2016

Yep, we do PPAPs as well. In August, Summit completed the PPAP process for an established customer in the wireless locks and security market. Because of the market application of wireless electronic locks and portal gateways, the manufacturing documentation and the product drawings and requirements had to match perfectly. All the i’s were dotted and the t’s crossed and the first production deliveries were made.
